Medical Office Assistant Job Description

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a skilled Medical Office Assistant to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional patient care and support in a medical office setting.
  • Develop strong relationships with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff through effective communication and professionalism.
  • Stay up-to-date with medical office procedures and protocols to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Anticipate and meet the needs of healthcare providers for each patient, based on patient complaints and treatment plans.
  • Gather patient vitals and complaints, documenting them in the patient's medical record.
  • Prepare lab requisition forms and ensure specimens are sent to the correct labs according to patient insurance contracts.
  • Schedule surgeries and provide patients with necessary instructions prior to the procedure, referring to the Front Office Coordinator or Office Manager for insurance authorization as needed.
  • Provide backup surgery scheduling support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a medical office environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
