Position Overview

Salary Range: $21 - $26 per Hour

Role: Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor/Substance Abuse Associate

Location: Las Vegas, New Mexico

Licensure Requirements:

To qualify for licensure, candidates should meet the following educational criteria:

  1. Possess an Associate's Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree.
  2. Complete 90 hours of classroom instruction in counseling or substance abuse from an accredited institution, or 90 hours of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in relevant training (CEU training is available through RGATP if required).

Accepted Licensures in New Mexico:

  1. Licensed Substance Abuse Associate (LSAA)
  2. Licensed Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor (LADAC)
  3. Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC)
  4. Licensed Master Social Worker (MSW)
  5. Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker (LBSW)

Clinical supervision will be provided to ensure compliance with licensure standards.

Key Responsibilities:

The Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor/Associate will primarily focus on delivering direct services to adults experiencing substance use disorders. Core responsibilities include:

  • Conducting assessments
  • Facilitating group and individual counseling sessions
  • Providing client education
  • Implementing motivational enhancement techniques
  • Developing treatment and discharge plans
  • Managing cases and referrals
