Job Title: Infection Control Nurse

Universal Health Services is seeking a skilled Infection Control Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of infection prevention and control in our facilities.

Job Summary:

The Infection Control Nurse will be responsible for coordinating the Infection Control Program in collaboration with the interdisciplinary Safety/Infection Control Committee. This includes infection prevention, control, and surveillance activities, as well as providing guidance on the care and management of patients and/or employees with infections.

Responsibilities:
  • Surveys the hospital setting and inspects each area for potential problem areas related to cleanliness and sanitation, as well as areas of potential infection.
  • Coordinates Performance Improvement plans that identify measures through aggregate data collection, assess, and improve infection control processes within the facility.
  • Provides guidance regarding care and management of patients and/or employees with infections.
  • Reports infections to the appropriate agencies when required.
Qualifications:
  • RN with a Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Training in healthcare infection control programs, monitoring, and compliance preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience in an acute hospital or other related healthcare facility.
  • APIC Certification in infection control preferred. Upon employment, active APIC membership will be required.
  • Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • CPI Certification.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Displays written and verbal communication skills and is able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Able to work collaboratively, diplomatically, and with integrity in problem identification, project management, and problem-solving activities.
  • Is knowledgeable of, can interpret, and put into practice pertinent federal, state, local regulations as well as Joint Commission and related standards.
  • Displays knowledge of ethical principles and compliance issues in a healthcare setting.
  • Is familiar with various types of documentation maintained in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrates good understanding of medical terminology.
  • Can work independently and productively with little supervision.
  • Can develop action plans, coordinate resources, and see tasks through to completion.
  • Displays good organizational skills.
  • Is knowledgeable about infection control activities in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, word processing, and database applications.
  • A working knowledge of epidemiology, microbiology, infectious disease, and aseptic technique to include standard/universal precautions.
