About the Role

Pacific Rail Services is seeking a skilled Lift Equipment Operator to manage the overhead and/or side loading lift equipment at our Union Pacific Avondale, LA Terminal.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate overhead or side loader crane to load and/or unload containers, chassis, and trailers on and off railroad cars.
  • Perform daily pre-inspection to verify the condition of equipment, including tires, oil levels, hydraulics, lights, and safety equipment.
  • Activate work assignments through the on-board computer system and ensure clear communication with Ground Person and/or other personnel.
  • Verify container, chassis, and trailer numbers accurately and ensure compliance with HAZMAT and OSHA Regulations.
  • Perform special tasks as requested by management and/or supervisor, including hostling and ground person activities.
Requirements
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Advanced knowledge of railroad industry from vocational education, apprenticeship, or on-the-job training.
  • Pass a 7-year background check and hair follicle drug test.
  • Pass an IPCS Physical Capabilities Test.

This is a permanent full-time opportunity with room for advancement. We offer a competitive starting rate of $18-$20 an hour based on experience.
