Job Overview

Ariel Partners is seeking a highly skilled Forensic DNA Specialist to join our team. As a Subject Matter Expert, you will provide crucial product guidance, technical expertise, and direction for our CODIS software development program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary forensic expert on the CODIS system, providing deep technical insight and direction on DNA analysis, database management, and forensic science best practices.
  • Work closely with software engineers, product managers, and developers to ensure the CODIS system meets the needs of forensic professionals, aligns with legal requirements, and incorporates technological innovations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and document requirements for software improvements, ensuring alignment with forensic and legal protocols.
  • Participate in product testing and validation, reviewing software outputs to ensure the accurate processing of DNA profiles and compliance with CODIS standards.
  • Liaise with law enforcement agencies, forensic laboratories, and government stakeholders to align software features with user needs and ensure system updates enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide training and technical support to internal teams and end users on forensic science applications and the use of CODIS.
  • Ensure all product development and enhancements adhere to local, state, and federal regulations related to DNA forensics, including adherence to FBI and NDIS guidelines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Forensic Science, Biology, Genetics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in DNA forensics, with hands-on experience in analyzing and interpreting DNA evidence, including experience working with CODIS.
  • In-depth knowledge of DNA analysis, forensic laboratory protocols, and the CODIS system, including compliance with FBI and NDIS standards.
  • Familiarity with forensic data management systems, database structures, and software development life cycles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex forensic and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify issues and provide innovative solutions to improve software performance and user experience.
