Pharmacy Technician Supervisor Job Description

PharMerica is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician Supervisor to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading and guiding our pharmacy technicians in providing exceptional customer service and meeting the pharmacy needs of our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and guide pharmacy technicians in orientation, training, competency assessment, and evaluation.
  • Oversee pharmacy technician workflow and scheduling.
  • Provide adequate structure, direction, and feedback to pharmacy technician staff.
  • Fills prescription items, packages medications for dispensing and delivery, meeting accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Prepares medications, including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, which may include non-sterile compounding.
  • May perform tasks such as working in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room, working with automated machines to prepack drugs, managing inventory functions, inputting patient data and medication orders into a computer system, mixing and packaging IV medications, sanitizing the IV room and equipment, and maintaining equipment by ordering, stocking, and organizing supplies and delivery orders.
  • Ensure technician adherence to local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Ensures productivity and accuracy standards are adhered to.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in an LTC pharmacy setting and leadership experience.
  • Basic understanding of drugs, medication terminology, and metric system; ability to operate a computer; workflow management skills; scheduling skills; performance management.
