Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant II (PCA II) is a certified professional who provides direct care in a department setting. This role requires a current certification in patient care and involves assisting patients with activities of daily living, providing basic nursing care, and maintaining a safe environment under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).

Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Provide basic nursing care, including vital sign monitoring and medication administration.
  • Maintain a safe environment, including cleaning and disinfecting patient areas.
  • Work collaboratively with the RN to ensure high-quality patient care.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Certification in Patient Care (M.A., CNA, EMT, Paramedic, Patient Care Tech, etc.).
  • Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate upon hire and maintenance.
  • BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintenance.
  • Previous experience as a Monitor Technician, preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
  • EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office, preferred.
Facility-Specific Requirements
  • Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintenance, per facility requirement.
