Veterinary Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at River Hills Pet Care Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care to our patients and their owners.

• Provide support to veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, including cleaning and maintaining equipment, feeding, exercising, and grooming patients.
• Prepare and sanitize surgery suites, restrain and handle patients, and perform clerical and administrative work.
• Deliver quality care to all patients and provide exceptional service to clients.
• Assist with laboratory tests, take radiographs, and operate and maintain hospital equipment.
• Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, and maintain proper documentation.
• Communicate effectively with clients and ensure they feel comfortable leaving their pets in our care.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the hospital, including cleaning equipment, kennels, and facilities.
• Bath and care for patients who stay overnight, ensuring they are clean and properly groomed prior to release.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One or more years of experience in a veterinary environment, with successful performance of all duties.
• Vet Tech (VTNE) Certification preferred.
• Experience with surgical monitoring, radiology, dental prophylaxis, and client education preferred.

This is a strenuous job that requires a lot of lifting, cleaning, and constant motion. May involve some climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Some tasks involve the periodic performance of moderately physically demanding work, usually involving lifting or carrying moderately heavy animals (up to 50 pounds).
