Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough evaluations of structural elements in newly constructed projects.

Act as the lead engineer for threshold structures.

Perform inspections on the following:
- Concrete masonry units (CMUs)
- Cast-in-place concrete
- Reinforcing steel
- Shoring and reshoring systems
- Post-tensioned cables
- Precast and pre-stressed components
- Wood-framed structures

Carry out field assessments and collect samples for laboratory testing.

Document field activities by submitting daily reports that detail site operations.

Execute both destructive and non-destructive testing on construction materials, utilizing electric, pneumatic, and power-operated tools, as well as conducting ground penetrating radar (GPR) surveys, pavement condition assessments, and concrete cutting, coring, and chipping.

Observe structural steel and reinforcing steel installations, including welded or bolted connections, and assess exterior insulation finishing systems (EIFS), waterproofing, roofing, and window installations.

Maintain daily communication with site contractors, fellow technicians, and project managers.

Fulfill administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is preferred. A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.

Relevant experience includes Threshold Building inspection training on non-Threshold Buildings under the supervision of a Special Inspector responsible for overseeing the trainee's work.

Licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect in Florida, or possession of a Registered Florida Building BN License or General Contractor license is advantageous.

A valid Florida Driver's License is required.

This position necessitates the ability to carry weights ranging from 40 to 70 lbs multiple times daily, with occasional lifting of up to 85 lbs to waist height.

Additional Certifications Required:

- For concrete inspections: Certification from the American Concrete Institute (ACI) in concrete construction special inspection, as per ACI's qualifications established on January 1, 2017.


- For masonry inspections: Certification from the International Code Council (ICC) in structural masonry special inspection, following ICC's qualifications established on January 1, 2017.


- For post-tensioned inspections: Certification from the Post-Tensioning Institute (PTI) in post-tensioning inspection, adhering to PTI's qualifications established on January 1, 2017.


- For structural steel inspections: Certification from the International Code Council or American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) in structural steel special inspection, in accordance with ICC or AISC qualifications established on January 1, 2017.
