Position Overview:
Avantor Sciences is seeking a committed Maintenance Specialist to support our Biopharma division, focusing on the upkeep of facilities and equipment in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
This role is a full-time opportunity that involves direct engagement with machinery and mechanical systems in a rapidly evolving production environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic systems, conveyor mechanisms, and production machinery.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions by following diagrams, operation manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain inventory of equipment, parts, and supplies by monitoring stock levels.
- Ensure a safe and organized work environment by adhering to established procedures and regulations.
- Keep accurate logs of machine histories to assist in problem identification and resolution.
- Provide mechanical support to production teams and assist in the repair of electrical and electronic systems, hydraulic setups, plumbing, and more.
- Strive to enhance machine efficiency and reduce downtime through proactive planning and prompt repairs.
- Execute additional tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or GED is essential; Trade School or higher education in a related field is advantageous.
- Experience: At least 1 year of maintenance, mechanical, or electrical experience in an industrial or educational context is necessary.
- Skills: Proficiency in equipment maintenance, technical comprehension, safety protocols, and power tool usage is preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office is beneficial.
Preferred Experience:
- 2 years of relevant experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance, reliability, Mechanical Integrity, Quality Assurance, and Process Safety Management best practices.
- Experience in an ISO Certified, FDA Regulated, or cGMP environment.
- Industry experience with machine setup fundamentals and robust troubleshooting capabilities.
Essential Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of process piping, automatic valves, and screw conveyors.
- Capability to repair electrical and mechanical machinery throughout the facility, including skills in electrical systems, pneumatics, PLC logic, and welding.
Working Conditions:
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and dust.
- Occasional exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
- Physical demands include standing and walking for extended periods, as well as lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
