Hospice Savannah Inc - Registered Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at Hospice Savannah Inc. As a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to patients and their families in our hospice program.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for evaluating patients for eligibility for hospice care, providing nursing care to patients and families, and maintaining patient confidentiality and promoting patient rights. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Hospice Savannah Inc. and will consistently demonstrate the organization's values and compliance with service excellence standards.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients for eligibility for hospice care and provide nursing care to patients and families
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and promote patient rights
  • Identify cultural diversity and lifestyle choices and accommodate for such differences
  • Model the Hospice Savannah Inc. corporate values and comply with service excellence standards
  • Perform patient visits utilizing a personal vehicle and drive extensively, potentially exceeding 500 miles per week
  • Work a 30-40 hour work week, rotating days, evenings, or weekends, with occasional requests to work additional days/hours/holidays as needed
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing, BSN preferred with a current GA RN License
  • Minimum of one year of RN experience in hospice, oncology, med-surg, or home health providing direct patient care
  • Hospice or Oncology certification preferred
  • Current CPR certification, valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation required
  • Ability to successfully interact with patients, families, physicians, Hospice Savannah Inc. staff, and the community, along with excellent customer service, assessment, and documentation skills
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Word and Outlook, and database knowledge
Physical Demands

The position requires moderate visual concentration for patient charting/documentation and carries a risk of exposure to infectious diseases. The RN must be able to ambulate or lift a patient with or without the assistance of devices in excess of 75 pounds using proper body mechanics.

Work Environment

The Registered Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment, encountering stressful situations with patients and their families regarding end-of-life care. The RN must be able to accurately, timely, and concisely document the patient/family encounter using a computer. The Homecare position requires extensive driving and may be required to provide care in high-risk crime areas and unsafe situations.
