Job Description

Job Title: Crisis Intervention Specialist

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing crisis intervention services to students and families in Southeast Harris and Brazoria County. The Crisis Intervention Specialist will work closely with school administrators, counselors, and community agencies to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide crisis intervention services to students and families, including individual and group counseling, case management, and referrals to community resources.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans to address the needs of students and families.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and community agencies to ensure that students receive comprehensive support services.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of crisis intervention services provided.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in crisis intervention and counseling.

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensure in psychology or social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years experience in a work setting, preferably in crisis intervention or counseling.
  • Ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Work Environment:

The Crisis Intervention Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment, providing crisis intervention services to students and families in Southeast Harris and Brazoria County. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard and/or technical documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the campus site, community, or Austin. Ability to effectively present information to faculty, staff, administrators, community, and/or board of directors.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret various technical instructions in any form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Technical Skills:

To perform the duties of a crisis specialist successfully, a minimum of two years of computer experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, or other comparable programs will be required. After reasonable training, an individual must effectively utilize a software program (CISTNAV) for data entry.

Travel:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a valid Texas Driver's license and be insurable with a good driving record. The individual will be required to operate their motor vehicle to make home visits, attend meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions.
