This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of buildings and their entrances to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff. The Custodial Substitute will fill in for regular custodial staff on an as-needed basis, working varied shifts to meet institutional needs.
Key Responsibilities- Perform daily cleaning tasks, including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing, and buffing floors and stairways.
- Dust and clean furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Disinfect sinks, bathroom fixtures, trim, and mirrors.
- Empty waste baskets and replenish supplies as needed.
- Clean chalk/white boards and drinking fountains.
- Change light bulbs and shovel snow as required.
- Exterminate insects and arrange equipment and furniture for scheduled functions.
- Deliver messages and generate supply requisitions for assigned areas.
The Custodial Substitute will work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The position requires the ability to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods.
Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to see and hear well (naturally or with correction).
- Ability to lift and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work off ladders or scaffolding.
- Ability to work skillfully with hands.
- Ability to operate all custodial power equipment within 30 days of accepting the position.
- Ability to use cleaning agents in a safe and responsible manner.
