Job Description

At Alta Genetics, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Livestock Research Assistant. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the daily care of bulls, compiling research data, and presenting findings to company leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing daily care of the bulls, including feeding, cleaning, animal handling, semen collection, and assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments. Additionally, they will conduct detailed research trials designed to optimize current livestock handling or semen collection practices.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agriculture, biology, genetics, or data science, and be passionate about innovation and animal welfare. They will also be willing to learn and adapt to new situations, and be detail-oriented with a strong interest in completing an independent research project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily care of bulls, including feeding, cleaning, and animal handling
  • Conduct detailed research trials to optimize livestock handling or semen collection practices
  • Compile and analyze research data, and present findings to company leadership
  • Assist with health testing and veterinary treatments
  • Operate company farm equipment and vehicles

Requirements:

  • Students pursuing an education in agriculture, biology, genetics, or data science
  • Applicants currently attending a 2-year technical college or 4-year university
  • Experience handling and working with livestock
  • Passionate about agriculture and innovation
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new situations
