Responsibilities:
A Day In The Life Of An Intern – P&C Actuarial
State Farm's P&C Actuarial Division is a setting where interns undertake innovative and impactful project work in a collaborative atmosphere aimed at developing technical and business acumen - an ideal complement to academic learning.
Interns contribute analysis and solutions through:
Evaluation of risk and financial requirements for insurance offerings
Creation of inventive methods and applications to improve insurance product pricing
Data analysis and predictive modeling including regression, forecasting, and machine learning
Investigation of emerging industry trends and pertinent topics
Development through extensive training programs, mentoring initiatives, and leadership opportunities, along with competitive compensation/benefits such as actuarial exam incentives
Qualifications:
We Are Seeking College Students With:
Majors in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Management, or other analytical disciplines
A minimum GPA of 3.25, although a GPA above 3.5 is preferred
Experience with data and statistical analysis in Excel, SQL, R, and/or Python
Aiming to earn the ACAS/FCAS designation
Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, leadership, and critical thinking abilities
Rising Seniors must have:
Successful completion of at least one Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society actuarial exam, though completion of two or more exams is preferred
What You Can Anticipate:
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 38.75 hours per week. Due to the brief duration of the summer program, it is expected that hired interns will be available for the entire summer internship with minimal disruption in work schedule.
Compensation:
$30/hour (+ an additional dollar per hour for each Actuarial exam passed). Additionally, interns selected for our summer internship program will be eligible for a stipend.
Work Arrangement:
Hybrid - In this role, you should plan to work in the office a minimum of 2 days per week.
Associates are expected to be able to travel to and from your assigned office location as part of a hybrid work arrangement. Work arrangements may evolve over time based on business needs. Selected interns must reside within the continental U.S. for the duration of the summer internship.
Internship Program Eligibility:
To qualify for the summer internship program, you must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an undergraduate or post-graduate program throughout the internship duration.
