Job Summary:

The Mental Health Technician will play a vital role in supporting the mission, vision, and values of Mary Washington Healthcare. This individual will provide high-quality care to patients, physicians, and colleagues, while promoting a culture of excellence and teamwork.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in providing basic and routine care for patients in an assigned area, under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel.
  • Document patient status in accordance with program policies.
  • Follow policies and procedures of the specific unit, Department of Nursing, and support the hospital and department mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Promote teamwork with physicians, case managers, nurses, and personnel from other departments.
  • Manage supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner, consistent with budgeting limits for the department.
  • Perform all skills in job-appropriate competencies, under the supervision of nursing personnel.
  • Assist in organizing and completing therapeutic groups, based on the program schedule.
  • Maintain a competency notebook and participate in program educational services.
  • Contribute to the continuous Performance Improvement process.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in Human Services-Mental Health or other behavioral science discipline.
  • Minimum of 1 year of mental health or related healthcare experience.
  • Ability to interact with psychiatric patients in various stages of illness.
  • Ability to participate in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Meet the physical qualifications for the job position.
  • AHA BLS Provider CPR required at hire.
  • CPI required within 90 days.
