The Senior Global Capital Projects Manager will oversee significant capital initiatives from inception through to completion. This role involves defining and refining project requirements, subsequently crafting the project scope and strategic plan to fulfill those needs. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, utilizing project management expertise, methodologies, and tools to support large-scale capital projects ranging from $5 million to over $100 million. This position is primarily remote, with an expectation of 30-50% travel to collaborate with project teams during execution phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the project team towards achieving project objectives
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for project outcomes
  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to ascertain project requirements aligned with business objectives
  • Maintain communication with stakeholders, including executive leadership, regarding project progress and direction
  • Formulate and oversee the project scope and management plan
  • Advocate for the project change management process
  • Prepare bid packages and conduct technical evaluations of proposals
  • Assess and approve project cost estimates, financial reports, and timelines
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of engineering, consulting, and construction teams
  • Assist in the development and management of procurement and expediting strategies
  • Create and implement a comprehensive project risk management strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil preferred). An advanced degree in business or engineering management is advantageous.
  • Proven experience with formal project management methodologies is essential, with a preference for formal PM certification (e.g., Project Management Professional through PMI or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 10 years in the chemical or related sectors, including at least 5 years as a project manager on large capital projects exceeding $20 million. International project management experience is highly valued.
