Position SummaryWe are seeking a meticulous and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of **Senior Test Engineer** specializing in **Energy Storage and Distribution Systems**. In this capacity, you will play a pivotal role in the assessment and validation of critical components and subsystems for our vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) electric aircraft. Our team comprises highly skilled, proactive professionals who thrive in a dynamic and rewarding atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with firmware engineers on Battery Management Systems (BMS) to conduct comprehensive verification and validation tests for battery performance metrics.
- Design and implement formal testing protocols that ensure repeatability and reliability of results.
- Execute acceptance testing on battery packs intended for flight integration and generate necessary documentation.
- Work alongside the battery design engineering team to conduct compliance testing under various environmental conditions, including thermal cycling and vibration.
- Oversee long-term durability assessments of battery pack structures.
- Conduct characterization and reliability evaluations on battery pack components, such as contactors and PCBs.
- Analyze test data to produce detailed reports that provide actionable insights for design optimization.
- Facilitate test planning meetings and maintain organized documentation of testing activities.
- Ensure the battery testing area is well-maintained and adheres to safety and best practice standards.
- Assist in the automation of testing setups for battery packs and BMS functionalities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or a related field with relevant experience in battery technology.
- Proficient in high-voltage, high-power systems.
- Familiarity with electric vehicle power electronics.
- Experience in environmental stress testing methodologies.
- Knowledge of battery monitoring techniques and safety protocols.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on data management and presentation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
- Experience with Battery Management Systems hardware.
- Familiarity with testing standards such as DO-160 and MIL-810.
- Knowledge of battery cycle testing equipment.
- Experience with high voltage Lithium-ion systems.
- Proficiency in instrumentation and data acquisition techniques.
