Job Summary

This position is located at the Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center, Division of Nursing Services, Department of Obstetrics, Zuni, New Mexico. The purpose of this position is to independently plan and provide comprehensive nursing care for patients on the obstetrical unit by providing antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Provides comprehensive nursing care to the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients.
  • Administers critical medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Performs cervical checks for dilation, effacement, station, presenting part, position, and status of membranes.
  • Recognizes obstetrical complications and promptly reacts to urgent and emergency situations.
  • Implements and evaluates nursing care plans.
  • Provides nursing care to the newborn infant during recovery and post-recovery.
  • Operates and monitors specialized equipment safely and correctly, i.e., fetal monitors, interprets fetal monitor strips, and neonatal monitoring devices, etc.
Requirements
  • A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.
  • Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
  • For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
  • In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
  • The work experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Working Conditions

This position is subject to alternate work schedule, call back, rotating departments, rotating shifts, i.e., days, nights, weekends, holidays.
