Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Services Attendant to join our team at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. As an Environmental Services Attendant, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and clean environment for our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform various cleaning tasks, including cleaning of toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and apartments during vacancy, as well as scrubbing walls, dusting, cleaning, and vacuuming furniture, fixtures, doors, and related furnishings.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Operate and maintain industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing, and upholstery shampooing equipment.
  • Waste Management: Remove waste bags and containers, and transport them to designated areas for disposal.
  • Housekeeping: Clean common areas, offices, and public restrooms, as well as exercise, teen arts and crafts rooms, dining areas, and any rooms that provide activities for patients, parents, and staff.
  • Terminal Cleaning: Perform terminal cleaning of apartments between vacancies, including cleaning of tables, floors, lights, vents, ceiling, walls, furniture, beds, closets, kitchen, stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishes, pots/pans, and other areas as needed.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Meet deadlines in special projects, communicate all accomplishments, including unfinished tasks, to the supervisor, and work collaboratively with other team members to achieve departmental goals.
  • Physical Demands: The physical demands of this job include standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and move about the workspace to access work surfaces and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
  • Experience: Previous Environmental Services experience in a hospital/hotel environment preferred. Previous experience in housekeeping-related equipment operations is also preferred.

Compensation

In recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $27.50 per hour for the role of Environmental Services Attendant.
