About the Role

The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian - Facilities Support to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional custodial and general facilities support to our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and special cleaning work in all areas of the Huntington, including restrooms, carpets, hard surface floors, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Assist with special event setups, indoors and outdoors, of tables, chairs, extension cords, and other equipment as needed.
  • Assist in moving boxes, furniture, or other items.
  • Drive golf cart to transport between assigned areas.
  • Perform light maintenance duties, including unplugging toilets and drains, changing light bulbs, and replacing batteries in flush valves or faucets.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Experience in custodial duties highly preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, push, pull, and carry heavy objects; walk and stand for long periods of time; climb ladders and stairs; bend and reach
  • Ability to see close detail work clearly to ensure thorough cleaning
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others and function as part of the custodial team
  • Flexibility in assuming work assignments and knowledge of each cleaning procedure
  • Polite and diplomatic in dealing with other staff members and the public
Working Environment

Works in all physical plant, gallery, and office areas. Works with tools and electrical and mechanical equipment which requires the exercise of good judgment and caution.
