Job Title: Paraprofessional Specialist

Job Summary:

The Paraprofessional Specialist will assist in the supervision and instruction of severely/moderately disabled special needs students under the supervision of a certificated teacher. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, and have a strong commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist special education students requiring daily care, such as toileting, feeding, dressing, suctioning, tube feeding, lifting, positioning, etc.
  • Implement academic instruction assigned by a teacher or therapist for individuals or small groups.
  • Monitor special education students during lunch, playground, classroom, field trips, etc.
  • Participate in the recording, reporting, and gathering of data for the Direct Service Claiming (DSC) program.
  • Perform record keeping and clerical functions, such as correcting papers, copying, instructional materials, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience is desired.
  • CPR/First Aid Recertification every two years.
  • Staff Development coursework determined by the Special Education Department to be completed within specified time frame.

Working Environment:

The Paraprofessional Specialist will work in a clean and safe environment with minimal hazards. The ideal candidate will be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull significant weights, and will be able to stand for long periods of time.
