Houston Methodist is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team as a PRN (as needed) nurse. As a PRN nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care to a diverse patient population, conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatment, and maintaining medical records.
- Communicate and collaborate with physicians and interprofessional healthcare teams to facilitate, coordinate, and maintain compassionate, efficient, quality care and achievement of desired treatment outcomes.
- Assume leadership roles with progressive responsibility, including participating in or leading unit and shared governance initiatives, serving as charge nurse or preceptor to students or new employees, and contributing to service line or hospital-wide initiatives in partnership with management.
- Use therapeutic communication, which includes active listening and teaching, to establish a relationship with patients, families, and interprofessional healthcare teams to collaborate on the plan of care.
- Contribute to teamwork by awareness of overall unit acuity, consistently offering assistance, and responding positively to requests for assistance.
- Implement staff education specific to patient populations and unit processes, coach and mentor other staff and students, and use peer-to-peer accountability towards improvement of department score for turnover/retention/employee engagement on unit-based scorecard.
- Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Two years of registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
- RN - Registered Nurse - Texas State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure within 60 days.
- BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
- Other credentials and certifications as defined by unit/service line.
- Magnet - ANCC Recognized Certification - in applicable specialty area.
