Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to join our Athletic Training team at the University of Central Oklahoma. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care to our student-athletes, ensuring their safety and well-being during practices and competitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prevent, evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate injuries and illnesses sustained by UCO student-athletes
  • Adhere to emergency action plans during emergency situations at practice or competitions
  • Provide in-season and off-season sport coverage as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director - Head Athletic Trainer
  • Counsel and educate student-athletes regarding injury prevention and treatment
  • Assist with implementation of athletic department drug-testing policy
  • Coordinate pre-participation physical exams with team physicians and coaches
  • Manage student-athlete files, including primary health insurance and physical forms
  • Coordinate insurance, primary and secondary, and record keeping and documentation of medical claims
  • Assist with coordination of scheduling of medical coverage for home and away competitions
  • Utilize electronic injury tracking software to document and track injury/treatment progression of each student-athlete
  • Work with team physicians, physical therapists, and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student-athletes
  • Communicate clearly with student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and physicians
Requirements
  • Must pass NATA BOC certification exam prior to beginning employment
  • Be Oklahoma State Licensed or eligible
  • Bachelor's degree and admittance into the Master of Athletic Training program at UCO
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
