Job Title: Human Resources Manager & Strategic Business Partner

Our World Neighborhood Charter Schools is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Manager & Strategic Business Partner to join our team. This leadership role will collaborate with the CEO to ensure that the schools' vision, culture, mission, and future goals are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee OWNCS policy, local/state/federal regulatory compliance, employee recruitment, training and development, employee relations, benefits administration, employee record keeping, payroll, and overseeing personnel procedures and HRIS systems.
  • Spearhead the OWNCS recruitment and hiring process, including advertising, documentation, job offers, orientation, conducting background checks, and certification checks.
  • Administer a wide variety of personnel policies, processes employment agreements, and employee job descriptions.
  • Process employee job agreements and contracts with full-time employees and temporary staff members.
  • Develop and implement employee training programs and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Consult and advise school leadership on sensitive personnel issues, including discipline, terminations, promotions, return to work, and employee grievances.
  • Investigate employee complaints and maintain confidential personnel files.
  • Coordinate necessary trainings and develop and enforce employee handbook(s) and personnel-related policies school-wide.
  • Manage and oversee OWNCS' HRIS systems and record keeping, including correspondence with PEO and other providers for personnel administration technology.
  • Assure knowledge, education, and enrollment of all staff members in Schools' benefit and retirement programs.
  • Negotiate with vendors for medical insurance during open enrollment.
  • Oversight and management of payroll processes, including fiduciary responsibility in Schools' 401k program.
  • Develop and implement IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility) initiatives to foster a safe and inclusive environment at OWNCS for staff and students.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Human Resources Certification encouraged.
  • Supervisory experience and knowledge of New York State and New York City labor laws and standards.
  • The ability to travel to each school location (Astoria, Howard Beach, and Corona).
