Position Overview:

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Coordinator within the Gender Affirmation Surgery Program. In this capacity, the selected candidate will deliver clinical leadership and coordination for a designated patient care population or program, aligning with the institution's philosophy and objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


- Enhance patient, physician, and consumer satisfaction by ensuring exceptional customer service from all healthcare team members.

- Act as a resource for the education of healthcare providers during operational hours.

- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support quality and performance improvement initiatives aligned with departmental and program objectives.

- Develop and implement action plans while identifying new improvement opportunities.

- Foster an environment that promotes satisfaction among patients, families, physicians, and staff, leading to excellent clinical outcomes.

- Stay informed about applicable research protocols, ensuring staff knowledge, protecting patient rights, and participating in outcome assessments.

- Engage staff in evidence-based practice and nursing research efforts.

- Monitor compliance with regulatory agency standards and customer service expectations in nursing practice.

- Collect and analyze data to drive practice changes that enhance quality, safety, patient experience, and productivity metrics.

- Collaborate with the Director of Nursing, Administration, and Nurse Educator to address and meet the educational needs of professional and ancillary staff.

- Cultivate a supportive environment for the education and development of nursing staff and other healthcare providers.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of educational activities in achieving desired outcomes.

- Promote personal professional development to enhance clinical and leadership competencies.

- Provide clinical leadership by assessing, implementing, and evaluating patient care in the designated unit or program.

- Deliver direct patient care as necessary to support clinical operations.

- Ensure ongoing patient and family education tailored to individual needs.

- Facilitate a collaborative interdisciplinary approach to achieve optimal patient care outcomes.

- Serve as a role model for staff, considering the needs and behaviors of diverse patient age groups and cultures.

- Participate in the development and implementation of process standards for patient care delivery.

- Manage scheduling and staffing to ensure optimal resource availability for safe and effective patient care.

- Provide leadership for unit or program activities, serving as a resource during operational hours.

- Create an environment conducive to creativity in practice and collaboration among all health team members.

- Communicate significant patient care issues, family concerns, and safety events, seeking consultation when necessary.

- Identify and proactively address potential risk management issues in accordance with institutional policies.

- Conduct formal reviews of staff performance standards, guiding and mentoring staff regarding practice expectations.


Minimum Qualifications:

- Current Registered Professional Nurse license in New York.

- Bachelor’s degree in nursing required.

- A minimum of four years of clinical experience in the relevant patient population.

- Ability to apply the nursing process to achieve specific outcomes effectively.

- Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to motivate and coach others.

- Active participation in service or departmental committees and educational programs.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with creative problem-solving abilities.

- Membership in relevant professional organizations.

- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform job responsibilities.


Preferred Qualifications:

- Senior Nurse Clinician level preferred.

- Certification in a relevant practice area preferred.

- Master’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.

- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.

This salary range does not include bonuses, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
