Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician - Patient Care Specialist will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support in our pharmacy. This individual will be responsible for processing new and refill prescriptions, assisting patients at the prescription check-out window, and maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment. Additionally, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with our pharmacy staff to implement and process 340B programs, complete patient assistance applications, and identify resources for patients to obtain cost-effective medications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process new and refill prescriptions using pharmacy software, including data entry, insurance adjudication, and labeling for dispensation under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist patients at the prescription check-out window, providing solutions to patient concerns and ensuring an overall great customer experience.
  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment, including checking medication stock, anticipating needed medications and supplies, and verifying receipt of medication orders.
  • Process outdated and/or damaged unused medications for disposal.
  • Assist with patient assistance program application forms and patient assistance medication inventory.
  • Provide internal customer service by promoting a positive work environment, free of judgment, bullying, gossip, and negative attitudes/demeanor.

Requirements
  • State Certificate of Pharmacy Technician
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate clearly in Spanish and English
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six months Community/Retail experience minimum
  • CPR/BLS certified

Preferred Requirements
  • Two years pharmacy technician experience
  • Pharmacy Technician Board Certification
  • Experience in a Public Health, Community Health, Hospital, or Retail setting pharmacy
  • Point-of-sale and cash handling experience
