Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Painting Project Manager to oversee and manage large-scale painting projects in commercial settings. The Project Manager will coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. This role requires a strong understanding of project management, engineering principles, and the unique technical aspects of commercial painting projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Coordination:
    • Assist in planning and scheduling commercial painting projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline management.
    • Collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and subcontractors to define project requirements and expectations.
    • Develop project plans, detailing the phases of work, materials required, and manpower needed.
  • Technical Oversight:
    • Provide technical input regarding painting materials, equipment, and techniques.
    • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with specifications, regulations, and safety standards.
    • Assist in solving engineering-related issues and recommend technical solutions for paint applications, surface preparation, and coatings.
  • Project Execution:
    • Monitor on-site progress, ensuring that all tasks align with the project schedule.
    • Supervise subcontractors and crews, ensuring quality control and compliance with project specifications.
    • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks to ensure adherence to safety protocols and industry standards.
  • Cost Control and Budgeting:
    • Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring the project stays within financial limits.
    • Assist in cost estimates, bids, and proposals for future projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of project status, including daily logs, progress reports, and financial tracking.
    • Prepare and present project status updates to clients, management, and other stakeholders.
  • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:
    • Ensure that all activities comply with company policies and industry standards for health, safety, and environmental regulations.
    • Conduct safety meetings and site inspections to enforce safety protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in project engineering or management, specifically in the commercial painting or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of painting systems, coating types, surface preparation, and application techniques.
  • Familiarity working with California Painter's unions.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and standard office applications (e.g., MS Office Suite).
  • PMP, NACE, or SSPC certification is a plus
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and standards for commercial painting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to visit construction sites, climb ladders, and inspect work areas.
  • Mix of office and on-site work at various commercial construction locations.
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on project deadlines.
