GIS Technician (Entry level)

Job Summary:

Planet Forward is seeking a highly skilled GIS Technician to join our team. As a GIS Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and correcting assets and configurations in our GIS system of record.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply technical expertise and understanding of GIS software and utility systems to maintain, update, and correct assets and configurations in the GIS system of record.
  • Ensure accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective time and work management.
  • Understand and interpret complex design drawings, property plats, maps, and other related information to post data in the Company GIS system.
  • Generate and maintain GIS-generated operations maps, perform Quality Control of team members' standard work, conduct internal and external training, and create job aids.
  • Conduct GIS and related studies and inquiries necessary for accurate system updates.
  • Strive to continually improve job-related, technical, and professional knowledge, skills, and performance.
  • Develop positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities, demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills, and maintain accurate records and files.
  • Support the company's goals and represent the company positively and professionally.
  • Basic understanding of key business activities that use GIS Data.

Requirements:

This position requires a minimum of 2 years of GIS experience, with a strong background and demonstrated experience in ESRI products preferred. Experience in Smallworld and utility experience are also preferred. A GIS or related technical degree is preferred.
