Medical Laboratory Scientist

Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at CompuNet Clinical Laboratories. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and procedures to ensure accurate and efficient results.
Responsibilities:- Perform all tests in an accurate and efficient manner following established policies and procedures.
- Perform and record daily and/or routine maintenance and quality control on all equipment or reagents used for testing.
- Recognize problems with instruments, reagents, test results and/or supplies and initiates problem solving procedures.
- Record all results in an accurate, complete and readable format, utilizes computer systems correctly to generate results and notifies clients appropriately of panic value results.
- Address client related questions and problems in a courteous and efficient manner, following department policies and procedures.
- Participate in training of new employees and students in appropriate technical areas.
- Comply with all corporate integrity and safety policies of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of CompuNet Clinical Laboratories by performing other duties as required.
- Associates or Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT/MLS/CLS) ASCP certification (or eligible) or comparable required.
- Visual acuity and hand-finger dexterity to work at computer for extended periods.
- Perform accurate data entry and data analysis in a potentially noisy environment.
- Complete integrity and accuracy in test performance and results reporting.
- Read/see small print on labels.
- Lift and carry, with both hands, weights up to 20 pounds for distances up to 50 yards.
- Lift a weight up to 50 pound from the floor to an approximate height of five feet.
- Manual dexterity to be able to manipulate various specimen types as well as the fine motor skills required to operate the various pipetting devices common to the clinical laboratory.
- Stand for extended periods of time.
- Repeatedly walk short distances.
- Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals.
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
- Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
