Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Kootenai Health. As a Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing diagnostic testing and analyzing laboratory results.

Responsibilities
  • Perform moderate to high complexity testing and waived testing in all sections of the lab
  • Perform quality testing and assess the acceptability of results to ensure accuracy of patient results generated by highly complex analyzers
  • Perform maintenance on highly complex analyzers per recommendations of the manufacturer to ensure best performance of the analyzer
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or related science required
  • Documented training (internship) in clinical laboratory science focused on Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood banking required
  • Documentation of successful completion of ASCP examination for clinical laboratory science, Medical Laboratory science, or equivalent required
  • ASCP certification required (example: ASCP(M))
Working Conditions

Must be able to maintain a sitting position, stand for long periods, stoop or crouch, and move or traverse with/without accommodation. Must be able to reach arms above or below shoulder height and push, pull, or transport heavy equipment.
