Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and maintain proper operation of all machinery, following established practices and referring to operation and service manuals as needed.
  • Operate equipment to meet the requirements of utility customers, monitoring and recording pressures, temperatures, and fuel consumption.
  • Identify and inform appropriate individuals of symptoms requiring maintenance action, observing, recording, and interpreting indications from instrumentation and control systems.
  • Apply knowledge of hand and power tools and general repair knowledge to assist in the maintenance and repair of engines, boilers, compressors, pumps, and all associated equipment.
  • Perform functional testing of plant systems and components, interpreting acceptability of data in comparison with established standards or sound power plant practices.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a process-related field, such as chemical industry, refinery, heating, generation, or any that would require a demonstrated aptitude for applying skills to an involved or complicated process.
  • 1-3 years' journeyman level experience in a power plant environment with boilers, chillers, pumps, compressors, cooling towers, and water treatment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and drawings, and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of the maintenance of daily plant logs.
  • Familiar with basic Microsoft Office products.
  • Able to work rotating-shift assignments to support plant operations.
  • Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and carry materials up and down stairs with the capacity of lifting 50 pounds.
