Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Shop Equipment Technician to join our team at Holt Group Inc. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing basic inspections, diagnoses, and repairs of heavy equipment and related components. Your attention to detail and ability to work independently will be essential in ensuring the efficient operation of our equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures
  • Assist in the rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining of equipment and components
  • Learns how to plan equipment and component repairs
  • Learns how to complete parts orders and identify parts for return
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas - keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., ProTech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • General knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Operation and control skills - Controlling operations of equipment or systems
  • Equipment selection skills - Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job
  • Ability to operate a conventional forklift
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic tools, and equipment used in mechanical repair
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly operate the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects
  • The ability to read, write, and understand information
  • The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have/acquire basic mechanic hand and pneumatic tools (metric/standard)
  • Education and Experience: One to three of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None
  • Travel: No travel is expected for this position
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to move objects, and use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
