Boerne Volunteer Firefighter Position

Assist in the control and extinguishing of fires, conduct search and rescue missions, respond to medical and fire emergencies, administer emergency medical treatment, and serve as essential emergency personnel as necessary. Attend trainings, events, and meetings as required by the Volunteer Fire Department. Attendance in the Volunteer Fire Academy is required.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to fires, fire alarms, emergency medical calls, and other emergency calls.
- Assist on rescue or rescue support functions at scenes requiring technical rescue.
- Assist with rescue and emergency care at hazardous materials scenes, disasters, mass casualty situations, or where weapons of mass destruction have been used or may be present.
- Operate emergency medical and rescue equipment, providing life support care to ill and injured individuals.
- Perform fire suppression functions, including rescue, deploy, and operate hose lines, ventilate roofs, perform salvage work after fires, and other related tasks associated with fire suppression.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain apparatus, equipment, quarters, and grounds.
- Participate in fire and Basic EMS training classes and drills.
- Participate in Community events such as Kendal County Fair Parade, National Night Out, and Department fundraisers.
- Valid Texas Driver's License.
- Junior Members (16 & 17 Years old) must supply a written note from parents/guardians.
- No history of criminal or improper conduct that may affect suitability for Fire/EMS work.
- No felony convictions, deferred adjudication, probation, or court-ordered supervision for any felony under the laws of Texas, and any other state or the United States.
- All other arrests and convictions are evaluated on an individual basis based on the nature and gravity of the offense, time passed since the conviction and/or completion of sentence.
- Any and all prior military service must have resulted in at least an under honorable conditions discharge.
- Meet volunteer time requirements established by the Boerne Volunteer Fire Department.
