We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Boerne Police Department. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, preventing crimes, and protecting the community.
Key Responsibilities- Patrol assigned areas to prevent crimes and enforce laws and ordinances.
- Respond to emergency calls and routine complaints, taking necessary action to ensure public safety.
- Direct traffic, issue citations, and operate traffic radar monitoring equipment.
- Investigate traffic accidents and crimes against persons and property.
- Conduct interviews with witnesses, complainants, and suspects, and take statements and depositions.
- Serve warrants and make arrests, as necessary.
- Keep records of activities and make reports concerning crimes, complaints, accidents, and investigations.
- Testify in court as required.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies to share information and coordinate efforts.
- Conduct security checks of businesses and residential areas on patrol route.
- Perform maintenance and upkeep of department vehicles.
- Assist emergency medical personnel, firefighters, and Animal Control Officers.
- Foster positive relationships with the community through outreach and education.
- Participate in criminal investigations, including sexual assault cases, child abuse cases, and homicides.
- Collect and log evidence, as needed.
- Represent the department at public events and activities, as required.
- High school graduation or equivalent, plus at least two years of related police experience (some college work in law enforcement preferred).
- Participate and successfully complete the Field Training Program during the allotted time.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform the job of police officer prior to completion of introductory period of employment.
