Job Overview

The Environmental Services Associate is responsible for ensuring a clean and well-maintained environment within the facility. This role involves executing daily cleaning and maintenance tasks for both interior and exterior areas, including utilities, equipment, and furnishings, while fostering a positive atmosphere for residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct daily cleaning and upkeep of floors in resident rooms, offices, and communal areas, adhering to established protocols.
  2. Manage the application and removal of floor finishes on tiled surfaces.
  3. Address spills and maintain cleanliness in designated areas as instructed.
  4. Organize and maintain storage spaces, including moving furniture as necessary.
  5. Perform minor repairs on building fixtures and equipment.
  6. Ensure adequate lighting and functionality throughout the facility.
  7. Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff operations.
  8. Coordinate daily maintenance services.
  9. Assist with flipping mattresses on resident beds when required.
  10. Oversee the cleaning of dining areas post-meals.
  11. Change curtains and drapes in resident cubicles as needed.
  12. Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Administrator.
  13. Understand and uphold residents' rights and regulations.
  14. Actively prevent any form of abuse or neglect towards the elderly.
  15. Promote a safe and clean living environment for all residents.
  16. Engage as a collaborative team member, prioritizing resident needs.
  17. Support staffing requirements for Environmental and Maintenance Departments.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to hold, lift, carry, and reach at or below shoulder height.
  • Push and pull objects as necessary.
  • Grasp and handle small equipment and paperwork.
  • Engage in sitting, standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Demonstrate fine motor coordination.
  • Read and write clearly.
  • Follow and give instructions effectively.
  • Climb as required.
Cognitive and Sensory Requirements:
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff.
  • Respond to instructions and resident requests.
  • Utilize sight for job performance and odor detection for facility maintenance.
Licensure:

No specific licensure is required for this position.

Work Environment:

This role may involve exposure to risks classified by the C.D.C. as Category II, where activities are performed without blood exposure, but potential exposure may occur in emergencies.

Additional Considerations:

The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced environment typical of a healthcare facility, possess strong communication skills, and enjoy working with the elderly. While some sitting is permitted, the role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
