Job Overview

The individual in this role is tasked with the meticulous preparation of all food items listed on the designated menus, utilizing various cooking methods such as grilling, frying, broiling, baking, boiling, braising, and poaching within an assigned kitchen environment.


Key Responsibilities

(The following duties are representative of the work performed in this job classification and are not exhaustive for this position)

  • Fosters an inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to choose Hard Rock International for their entertainment needs; actively engages in building and maintaining guest relationships while mentoring team members to deliver exceptional service.
  • Prepares a variety of foods using grilling, frying, broiling, baking, boiling, braising, poaching, or pantry methods; ensures that all dishes are visually appealing and cooked to the specifications of both the customer and the culinary team.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of various sauces and applies them appropriately to all entrees featured on the daily menus.
  • Maintains a clean and organized workstation.
  • Collaborates with colleagues to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen.
  • May assist with duties related to special events or gatherings as needed.
  • Ensures the cleanliness of the work area; reports any equipment malfunctions, hazardous conditions, or accidents.
  • Oversees the proper storage of food items, including leftovers from previous functions.
  • Ensures that all supplies are adequately stocked and that equipment is functioning properly.
  • Responsible for the proper shutdown of workstations at the end of shifts.
  • Assists with various tasks during special events or gatherings, including but not limited to carving, cooking, setup, and teardown of stations or work areas.
  • Participates in meetings and completes follow-up tasks as assigned.
  • Seasons food according to established recipes or company standards.
  • Supports fellow cooks during the food assembly process.
  • Ensures cleanup is completed before the end of the shift.

Essential Functions - Continued:

  • Cleans food preparation areas in accordance with company policies.
  • Performs work consistently and reliably.
  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing both work and public areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

(Related education and experience may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis)

Typically, this knowledge and these skills are acquired through a High School Diploma or equivalent. A culinary apprenticeship, an Associate's Degree from a culinary institution, or equivalent experience in the industry is preferred.

Additional Requirements: (Licenses, Certifications, Testing, etc.):

  • Must obtain and maintain all necessary licenses and certifications as per Federal, State, and local regulations.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening.
  • Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
  • Must be available to work on holidays and weekends, as well as flexible shifts.

Knowledge of:

  • Fundamental food preparation techniques and experience in line work.
  • Kitchen equipment and its proper use.
  • Diverse international cuisines.

Ability to:

  • Adapt to varying shifts and schedules as required.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and guests.
  • Utilize all equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to choppers, slicers, mixers, and grinders.
