We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) to join our team at CommonSpirit Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality, comprehensive, and accessible patient care through clinical expertise, role modeling, mentoring, consultation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and utilization of research.
Key Responsibilities- Assessment of patient needs: Perform a comprehensive assessment in accordance with established professional standards, hospital policy, national core measures, and other quality indicators.
- Initiation and interpretation of diagnostic tests and procedures: Collaborate with attending physicians to initiate and interpret relevant diagnostic tests and procedures.
- Determination of diagnoses: Critically analyze assessment data obtained during interview, physical examination, diagnostic tests, and/or diagnostic procedures to derive and prioritize diagnoses.
- Support of MD plan of care: Communicate care interventions to attending physicians and nursing staff, and identify appropriate quality indicators to support care of each patient.
- Development of comprehensive plan for care: Design a plan describing assessment/diagnostic strategies and interventions that address the promotion/restoration of health and the prevention of illness/disease.
- Implementation of interventions and treatments: Provide direct supervision of patients receiving treatments in an outpatient infusion care setting, and perform interventions and treatments within the scope of advanced practice registered nursing.
- Documentation of patient assessments and responses to therapy: Document patient assessments and responses to therapy in the medical record.
- Clinical coordination of care: Monitor accuracy and completeness of patient care provided by other team members, and provide theory-based consultation to influence the plan of care and enhance the abilities of others.
- Patient education: Identify educational needs of patients related to prioritized diagnoses, and employ appropriate teaching strategies based on assessment of risks, learning theory, epidemiological principles, and the client's health beliefs, health practices, developmental level, learning needs, readiness, and ability to learn and culture.
- Monitoring of effects of pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and other interventions: Initiate interventions in response to changes in patient conditions related to infusions and medication administrations, and communicate changes in condition and relevant patient information to attending physicians.
- Evaluation of patient's progress: Assess diagnoses and effectiveness of interventions toward plan of care, and revise diagnoses, expected outcomes, and plan of care based on advanced knowledge, practice, and research.
- MSN required
- Current Ky License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
- OCN or AOCN Preferred
- 3-5 years of oncology experience
- Demonstrated ability in educational activities, clinical practice, and consultation
- Considerable knowledge of computers/word processing and standard office equipment
