Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Alcohol Counselor to join our team at MAAC (Metropolitan Area Advisory Committee). As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality treatment services to individuals struggling with alcohol and substance abuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct group enrollments and individual reinstatements for participants in our DUI program and recovery home.
  • Develop treatment objectives and goals for program participants, ensuring a personalized approach to their recovery.
  • Audit participant files to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Lead group counseling discussions on topics related to alcohol and substance abuse, providing a safe and supportive environment for participants.
  • Conduct education classes following established curricula, promoting knowledge and understanding of addiction and recovery.
  • Monitor timely fee payments by participants and conduct individual counseling interviews to assess treatment progress.
  • Communicate with participants via phone or written correspondence regarding absences or delinquent payments.
  • Properly document all levels of program participation in participant case files.
  • Provide ongoing monitoring of participants' compliance with program rules and regulations.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions as assigned.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of alcoholism and a general understanding of the Twelve Step programs.
  • Counseling skills, including individual interviews and group discussions.
  • Methodology to assess individual alcohol/drug dependency problems and develop treatment goals/objectives.
  • Case management skills, particularly in recording participant progress in case records.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with program participants, staff, and community groups.
  • Community and social service needs of low-income people and relevant community resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated written and verbal proficiency in English and Spanish language.
  • Knowledge of state/county codes, rules, and regulations, and MAAC policies and procedures.
