Position Purpose
Medical Surgical Nurses provide comprehensive care to adult patients before and after surgical procedures. They collaborate with medical professionals, administer medications, and educate patients on surgical processes.
Position Summary- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Evaluate medical information and provide direct, individualized bedside nursing care to pre- and post-surgery patients.
- Prepare, administer, and document prescribed medications.
- Perform tasks such as changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.
- Adjust specialized medical equipment as needed and interpret and record measurements.
- Monitor patient vital signs and promptly report any adverse reactions to medications.
- Participate in discharge planning with the healthcare team.
- Answer questions and educate patients and their families about surgical procedures and post-surgery care.
- Maintain and update patient files, medical charts, and health records.
- Adhere to best nursing practices, standards, and protocols.
- Active Texas Registered Nurse Licensure (required).
- CPR (BLS) certification (required).
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (required).
