The Senior Associate Architect or Engineer will be primarily responsible for managing projects that support the Health Science Center in Memphis, UT Martin, and various UT Institute of Agriculture locations throughout the system. This role involves overseeing projects from initial programming through to construction completion, while assisting division management and university officials in the planning and execution of the Capital Program.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in the evaluation and selection process for Architects/Engineers and Contractors involved in Capital Projects.
- Provide assessments and constructive feedback on services throughout the design and construction phases.
- Coordinate design services for Capital Projects, including review and approval of design phases, payment recommendations for design service providers, and management of bidding processes.
- Oversee construction activities, including contractor submittals, field inspections, progress meetings, and resolution of issues.
- Facilitate substantial and final completion inspections, ensure delivery of project documentation, and conduct post-occupancy evaluations.
- Assist the Department of Capital Projects in reviewing submissions for all capital initiatives.
- Coordinate project site selection and development of facility programs for new and renovation projects.
- Contribute to Master Planning efforts and updates for campus facilities.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree and professional registration as a licensed architect or engineer is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a registered design professional, ideally within a professional design firm.
- Strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Proven experience collaborating with external design professionals and contractors.
- Demonstrated experience in design, project management, and construction management.
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary projects and coordinate effectively among various teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with government officials and industry professionals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in facilities management within higher education is preferred.
