Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind. As a member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional education to students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, deafblind, and other disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
  • Design and implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Monitor student progress through data collection and analysis.
  • Modify instruction based on student data and performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) for students.
  • Participate in staff development and professional growth opportunities.
Requirements
  • Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in special education – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Pre-K-12 or a related field.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching in a classroom setting with special needs students who have sensory impairments.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, and special needs of children with disabilities.
  • Ability to design and implement instruction for students with diverse needs.
