We are seeking a highly qualified Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to join our team at the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind. As a member of our faculty, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional education to students who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, visually impaired, deafblind, and other disabilities.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement curriculum aligned with Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for students who are deaf and hard of hearing.
- Design and implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Monitor student progress through data collection and analysis.
- Modify instruction based on student data and performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop Individualized Educational Programs (IEP) for students.
- Participate in staff development and professional growth opportunities.
- Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in special education – Deaf and Hard of Hearing Pre-K-12 or a related field.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License.
- Experience teaching in a classroom setting with special needs students who have sensory impairments.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, and special needs of children with disabilities.
- Ability to design and implement instruction for students with diverse needs.
