About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineer II to join our Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T) Team at Alcon. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for serving as the MS&T product steward for product life-cycle management of product lines, leading related projects, and supporting technical transfer projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects centered on cost reductions, business continuity, quality improvements, process/product transfers between manufacturing sites, and/or support of R&D activities.
  • Qualify components, tooling, equipment, and assembly processes partnering with Procurement, Suppliers, and Manufacturing Engineering as required to assure capacity and improve business continuity.
  • Evaluate and qualify suppliers.
  • Qualify alternate materials and/or components for either risk mitigation, cost improvement, or because of obsolescence.
  • Assure assembly process is developed and documented.
  • Assure Bill of Materials (BOMs) are entered and maintained correctly. Address requests from other departments related to BOMs and components. Confirm product costs are accurate and rolled.
  • Address any component or product quality issue assigned, determine root cause, and complete corrective action. Investigate non-conformances and implement corrective action.
  • Create risk assessments related to products as requested.
  • Manage product labeling and handling prototype builds.
  • Conduct Production Readiness Review for completed projects as applicable.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs).
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
  • Work hours: Monday through Friday / 8:00am - 5:00pm.
  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 10%.
  • Relocation assistance: No.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science degree in Engineering or scientific field.
  • 2 years' experience in engineering, scientific R&D, operations, or quality engineering in medical device/pharma industry and previous work leading project schedules and resources.
  • Experience obtained through advanced degree work will be considered.

In this role, a typical day will include:
