Job Summary

The Cloud Engineer serves as a technical thought leader and subject matter expert for the continued development and optimization of our public cloud (Azure) platform.

This position is responsible for designing, deploying and maintaining the Azure environment for the entire organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides expert level design and operational practices for Azure and wider Microsoft Product Suite.
  • Ensures alignment between security architecture frameworks, standards, and overall IT cloud strategy.
  • Creates and maintains templates and other reference artifacts for the Azure environment.
  • Advises on and implements deployment of new resources in architectures that are automated and scalable to optimize user experience.
  • Participates in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Azure solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Supports the migration of applications into client's cloud environment and assists in the analysis, tuning, and re-architecture when necessary to ensure adherence to business requirements and cost optimization efforts.
  • Troubleshoots incidents, identifies root cause, fixes, and documents problems, and implements preventive measures.
  • Educates users on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required.
Requirements
  • Deep understanding of and experience with the five pillars of well-architected frameworks.
  • Ability to recognize the versatility of different deployment frameworks and know the tradeoffs when choosing between the various orchestration and configuration management tools.
  • Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business analysts, developers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.
  • Self-starter and work in an integrated team-based environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud platform services.
  • Ability to learn software suites quickly.
  • Must have a drive to learn and continually improve the work environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Product and industry knowledge.
