Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Community Development Coordinator to join our team at the City of South Salt Lake. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and building community support for our Communities That Care (CTC) program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the CTC planning and implementation process, working closely with community leaders, partner organizations, and residents to achieve program goals and objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts to identify and solve problems in completing the CTC Milestones & Benchmarks, and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Work with the core workgroup to recruit key leaders and potential community board members, and prepare for and lead CTC workshops as needed.
  • Handle community board meeting preparation and follow-up, and prepare documentation and reports as required.
  • Facilitate delegation of community prevention board tasks, including data collection, community outreach, and public relations, and lead discussions related to project planning and maintenance.
  • Work with community prevention board members, members of the larger community, and the CTC coach to develop and implement a comprehensive community prevention plan.
  • Coordinate dissemination of CTC information to key leaders, schools, and other youth service providers, and make presentations as needed.
  • Assist in writing grant proposals, reports, and other materials needed to obtain funding, and develop and manage the budget under the direction of community board leadership or funding workgroup.
Requirements
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, which may include an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or experience.
  • Experience working with youth and family development, administering various youth or family programs with a high degree of community involvement, and working knowledge of various youth organizations and their interaction with the community.
  • Proven track record of working with underrepresented or under-resourced populations, and evidence of commitment to the mission of Promise South Salt Lake, including youth leadership, youth development, and accessibility.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, ability to self-start, learn new skills, and work independently, and ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, and the public, and skills in professional office settings, including knowledge of common computer software, including the Microsoft Office and Google suites.
