Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Technician to join our team at the City of Jacksonville. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for performing technical engineering work in the planning and design of minor maintenance and construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and design maintenance and construction projects such as sewer and water lines, drainage and sewage pump station areas, and culverts.
  • Prepare cost estimates for construction of proposed projects.
  • Review contractor plans, specifications, and permit applications for adherence to standards.
  • Conduct surveys of proposed sites and prepare plans and specifications for construction.
  • Inspect projects during construction for adherence to plans and specifications.
  • Review project disbursement requests and authorize payments to contractors or consultants.
  • Maintain project records and prepare project status and related reports.
  • Prepare and acquire necessary permits from local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Operate a personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, and related software applications.

Requirements

  • A four-year combination of education, training, and experience in engineering support work.
  • A valid Class E Driver's License is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
  • City of Jacksonville Public Driver Certification is required prior to appointment and must be maintained.
