Job Summary

This role demonstrates independent judgment in performing two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of peripheral vascular systems for the diagnosis of disease.

Responsibilities

  • Selects appropriate equipment for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
  • Assesses patient pain interfering with imaging procedure and makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
  • Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
  • Moves transducer, by hand, over specified area of the body and monitors quality of images produced.
  • Produces images of internal structures and records diagnostic data.
  • Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed.
  • Determines physicians' orders and performs procedures accordingly.
  • Explains the test to the patient, instructs, and assists in assuming the physical position for examination, and gives post-exam instructions.
  • Maintains accurate QC logs, service records, etc.
  • Appropriately utilizes the functionality of the Epic system within their job responsibilities.
Qualifications
  • Ultrasound Technician Certificate from an accredited school.
  • BLS certification.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Physical demands require lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds and a push/pull force up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved training program in ultrasonography.
  • Registered Vascular Tech.
