Role Summary:
The Youth Residential Therapist plays a crucial role in coordinating and executing therapeutic interventions for children in residential care, as established by the treatment team. This position involves delivering clinical support to both the child and their family, acting as a bridge between various stakeholders, including families, educational institutions, and the treatment team, while meticulously documenting treatment progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the treatment team to provide tailored clinical interventions, including family therapy, individual psychotherapy, and group therapy.
- Serve as a liaison for families, overseeing visits that require clinical input, and effectively communicating family dynamics to the treatment team.
- Maintain consistent communication with educational staff to ensure optimal academic support for clients, participating in relevant meetings as necessary.
- Engage with child care and case management teams during treatment reviews and planning sessions.
- Document all treatment activities in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements, including progress notes and clinical assessments.
- Work with the House Management Team to cultivate a therapeutic environment conducive to healing.
- Provide on-call crisis intervention services as part of the clinical team.
- Attend legal proceedings related to the treatment and placement of clients.
- Meet regularly with clinical supervisors to assess treatment progress and adjust strategies as needed.
- Flex work hours to accommodate family needs, including evening sessions.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to evaluate and enhance therapeutic practices.
Qualifications:
- A Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling from an accredited institution is required.
- Possession of clinical licensure (LMSW, LMHC, etc.) is mandatory; a Limited Permit may be accepted.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience is preferred, demonstrating a strong commitment to child advocacy.
- A valid New York State Driver's License is required, along with reliable transportation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace is essential.
- Exceptional communication skills are a must.
- Ability to successfully complete required background checks, including fingerprinting.
