Emergency Department Nurse

Denver Health is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a Registered Nurse in this role, you will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, with the ability to apply critical thinking and evidence-based practices to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes.
You will work collaboratively with the healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, utilizing the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice.
Essential Functions- Assess the needs of individuals, families, and/or communities to identify potential health or safety problems.
- Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms and changes in patient's condition and vital signs.
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient's responses and conditions.
- Develop and modify patient care plans as indicated by patient's responses and conditions.
- Prepare patients for, and assist with examinations and treatments.
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Monitor all aspects of patient care, including diet and physical activity.
- Direct and supervise less skilled nursing/healthcare personnel.
- Instruct individuals and families on health education and disease prevention and aftercare.
- Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients.
- Medication administration, documentation, and reassessment.
- Promote positive patient experience.
An Associate's Degree is required, and one year of experience in a direct patient care setting is preferred.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, with the ability to apply critical thinking and evidence-based practices to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes.
Licenses and CertificationsBLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association is required, and RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies is also required.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesThe ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in nursing principles and practices, with the ability to apply critical thinking and evidence-based practices to promote excellence in healthcare consumer safety and quality outcomes.
They will also have the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care, maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public, and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures, communicate clearly, and use Microsoft Office Suite.
EPIC documentation is preferred.
