Job Summary:

The Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) is a highly skilled advanced practice nurse responsible for providing primary health care services to women and newborns. This role requires a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nurse midwifery care for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum patients.
  • Perform physical exams, collect and document data, and manage labor and spontaneous delivery.
  • Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, order laboratory studies, and prescribe medications as needed.
  • Collaborate with supervising physicians to ensure comprehensive care and adherence to standards of practice.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, including regular review of care provided and annual review of the Collaborative Practice Agreement.

Requirements:

  • MSN degree required; current RN licensure in North Carolina and certification as a Nurse Midwife.
  • Three years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, with a focus on women's health and midwifery care.

Work Environment:

This position is employed by UNC Health Care, a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System. The Certified Nurse Midwife will work in a dynamic, team-based environment with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care.
